Age of Sigmar: The Best of the Worst – Ranking the Greater Daemons

Here’s the 5 unique Greater Daemons of the Mortal Realms, ranked from the worst to the best.

Every Chaos God has a generic Greater Daemon, and for each of those there is one that rises above the rest. Here’s my ranking of the Unique Greater Daemons, from worst to best. It should be noted, of course, that all of them are powerful models, this is just how they compare to each other.

#5: Rotigus

Drippiest of the drippy boyes, Rotigus is the strongest of the Great Unclean Ones. He has some solid attacks, is relatively tough, and has a decent signature spell, but he doesn’t really excel at anything, so he’s at the bottom of the list. He does lots of things well, but he doesn’t really stand out in any specific area.

#4: Kairos Fateweaver

The two-headed Lord of Tzeentch is a magical powerhouse, able to twist fate to suit his whims and absorb the magic of nearby wizards. However, he doesn’t really do much more than a standard Lord of Change, and he lacks the weapon options they have. Still, his ability to cast the spells of other friendly wizards and turn enemies into Spawns can’t be ignored, he’s just a little too easy to corner and remove to be worth his points.

#3: Skreech Verminking

Yes, the Horned Rat counts here, and Skreech Verminking is the mightiest of the Verminlords for a reason. He can access knowledge from the 6 major Skaven clans to power up his attacks, raise his save, or empower his spellcasting. His generic spell is nice too, allowing him to pull in more Clanrats, and his command ability makes him a good support piece.

#2 Skarbrand

Exiled for daring to stand up to Khorne, Skarbrand takes anger to a whole new level. One of the most frightening melee fighters in the game, he gets stronger the more damage he takes, and should he not make it into combat for a turn, he rages out and buffs himself to his strongest profile. He’s a terrifying monster, and can easily level an entire army single-handedly.

#1 Shalaxi Helbane

The greatest of Slaanesh’s Keepers, Shalaxi is #1 on this list for the sheer annoyance of his profile. He can lay down a devastating amount of damage, shut down enemy heroes, and is still a high level spellcaster. His ability to make an enemy target him can mean they don’t get to attack if he’s screened, and with all the other generic rules Slaanesh armies get on top of his laundry list of abilities he definitely strikes me as the strongest of the Greater Daemons.
