The Primaris Marines are getting some new miniatures – so let’s compare them to each other to figure out who’s the best (looking).

Get ready for another completely subjective ranking of miniatures because we’re looking at all the new Primaris Miniatures that GW has teased and we’re ranking them according to the ones we like the to the ones we don’t like so much…Not that Primaris aren’t all great – that would be HERESY.

We’re also going to seperate them out based on the ones that have really good pictures and the ones that GW hasn’t officially covered yet. So this list is a twofer! Let’s dive in starting with the best of the new lot.

#1 Bladeguard Veterans

We have to start off with these miniatures. They are the best looking and the most 40k of the lot. In fact, there is only one thing that they would need to be MORE 40k – and that would be Warhammers. Look at the models – they check all the boxes:

  • Crazy detailed Gothic Armor
  • Robes
  • Ornate Weapons
  • Shields with SKULLS in them
  • Primaris-sized weapon holsters
  • SKULLS!!!

Seriously, if they had hammers I don’t think you could get more 40k. Well, unless they were chaos as you tossed in some spikes. Maybe skulls with spikes through them. You get the idea.

#2 Primaris Lieutenant

The only reason this model isn’t #1 is because there is only 1 of them. He’s basically like the Bladeguard – but there is only one of him. But he does have that sweet new “Neo-Volkite” pistol. Primaris with Volkite weapons? Yes please!

#3 Assault Intercessors

If you like the Primaris Marines then you’re going to really like these models. I mean, they are Intercessors…but ASSAULTY. They have pistols and chainswords and are ready to charge face-first at the enemy! They don’t have jump packs…I’m wondering how they are going to close the gap. These are things I’ll have to contemplate as I build and paint them as Blood Angels. But for now, they do look pretty darn cool.

#4 Judiciar

I’m not sold on this one just yet. While this model certainly checks all the boxes (see above) he doesn’t have a warhammer. But also, this might just be me, he seems very Stormcast Eternal to me. And yes, I understand that the SCE are the Space Marines of AoS. But this guy really looks like one of them. Right down to the Hour Glass. Did this model get it’s wires crossed? Don’t get me wrong – he looks badass and all…but he seems out of place and time. Also, is he going to step on the Chaplain’s toes? Not cool, bro.

#5 Primaris Outriders

Okay, I know I’m probably in the minority here but these bikes are kinda…meh. They aren’t terrible – far from it! But, compared to the other models, they rank pretty low. Unless you’re a Ravenwing or White Scars player bikes in general aren’t a super popular option. Am I glad to see new bike models? Yes. Am I super blown away by these guys? Not really. I’m honestly holding out for the “Attack Bike” version because there has to be one of those, right?!

So that’s it for the “Officially Revealed” models. But there are some more that have popped-up on the internet. It wouldn’t be fair to compare them to these nice, crisp photos so we’re running them as their own list.

The Blurry Ones Ranked

#1 Hellfury (?)

This is apparently a new unit and they are packing some new Primaris Melta goodies. If they are the Melta version of Hellblasters, then I’m all for them! Plus there are multiple models in this unit so they get #1 just by sheer weight of numbers!

#2 New Primaris Ancient

We’ve got to assume this is a new Primaris Ancient due to the banner. It could be something else but it’s certainly an upgrade compared to the previous version. More robes, more ornate armor, and a crazy con instead of a banner – that’s pretty cool.

#3 New Primaris Captain

Here we have what we’re assuming is a new Primaris Space Marine Captain. He’s got an even more Grimdark Shield – it’s like he took an entire skeleton and place it on the front of his Stormshield. He’s also holding it like it’s a wall he’s keeping up instead of holding it ready for battle. This is one of those models that really needs another look with better pictures before we can truly judge it.

#4 New Primaris Chaplain

Here we have a new Primaris Chaplain. I dunno about you, but I’m getting major Chaplain Cassius vibes.

There are some differences to be sure, but even if it’s not him, I’ve got to wonder did we need another Primaris Chaplain?

Eh…we’ll have to wait to find out. Hopefully we’ll see this new Chaplain in all it’s glory soon enough. But for now, because it’s kind of a redundant model, it’s ranking at the bottom of the blurry models.

Well that is it for our twofer list of Ranking the new Primaris. Let us know how you’d rank them in the comments!
