Two new characters are coming to the tabletop thanks to Psychic Awakening: Pariah. Come check out what these two outcasts can do!

The Daemonifuge is back this weekend and make the jump from the lorebooks to the tabletop. For those of you who don’t know her tragic backstory here’s the basics from GW:

via Warhammer Community

“Stern was once a Seraphim in the Order of Our Martyred Lady, but fate had far greater things in store. On the planet of Parnis, she was brought low by the followers of a Daemon of Slaanesh. This same Greater Daemon had taken hundreds of Stern’s sisters captive in a flesh-prison called the Screaming Cage. This eternal punishment magnified the faith of those imprisoned sisters, and they were able to pour all of their energy into Stern’s broken form to propel her back to life. Now she wields the knowledge of an entire Order, along with mysterious powers that could only have come from the God-Emperor himself. Since then, she has spent centuries being hunted by both the forces of Chaos and parts of the Inquisition, the latter of which consider her to be a heretical witch. “

The sacrifice of hundreds of souls that fused into a single person; an embodiment of will with the knowledge of an entire Order behind them…where have we heard something like that before? Oh yeah. The Emperor. No wonder Ephrael Stern is wanted by the Inquisition, right?

So what is she capable of on the tabletop? Well here’s a quick look at her stats:

That’s not too shabby – she’ll give most other typical characters a run for their money. Especially when she’s got her trusty Sanctity in hand:

Based on these two things, so far she’s got a potential 8 damage in a round of close combat – again, that enough to kill most minor characters and take a chunk out of most other things. But that’s not all she’s packing. How about some free Mortal Wounds that are basically Smite…but not.

The majority of the time, you’re going to be getting a few Mortal Wounds in before combat which could be enough to tip the scales in Stern’s favor. So what about her travelling buddy?

Kyganil is another outcast from his own people. He used to be a Harlequin but has joined Stern and is attempting to lead her to the Black Library – you know, the one hidden in the Webway. Why? Well, you’re going to have to read the books to find out! Aside from having one of the coolest ground effects sculpted on the model, Kyganil has some other cool tricks he’s bringing to the tabletop.

Another good fighter in close combat, but he’s only got strength 3. Maybe his swords make-up for that?

Eh. The extra hits are really nice…but that Strength 3 with only -1 AP? I don’t think anyone is going to be shaking in their boots. At least, not at first. He’s also a really good bodyguard:

Uh…what? That’s not an invulnerable save. That’s not a “feel no pain” save. That’s just a bodyguard ability that straight-up ignores a lost wound on Ephrael Stern. That’s kind of amazing. Note that Kyganil doesn’t take the wound either – the lost wound just goes away like it never happened.

I’m also wondering if either or both of these characters have additional Invulnerable saves, too. Now, they are characters so that will offer them a ton of protection. But if you can stack some sort of invulnerable save and a “feel no pain” on top of that…good luck trying to take them out.

The pair can be included in any Imperium Detachment without taking up a slot also. If you’re wondering how that works, check out their Wanderer’s ability:

So there you go! If you’re a fan of the Daemonifuge then pick up a copy of these two models and charge them onto the battlefield!

What do you think of their rules? How tough do you think they will be on the tabletop?
