Aug 27 2020

Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden features all kinds of magnificent monsters, including a massive magic dragon robot that you can pre-order today.

If you watched the D&D Live 2020 event, or read through Beadle & Grimm’s new Frostmaiden announcement, then you are familiar with the miniature we’re about to showcase. But, if you haven’t, consider yourself warned because we’re going to dig into some spoileriffic details about one of the big players in the upcoming adventure: Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden.

Alright. Let’s talk about Chardalyn. This is a magical material that helped make the empire of Netheril into the unstoppable bastion of magical might that it was in its heyday. With peculiar spell absorption properties, Chardalyn could be used to absorb magical energy and transform it. Well, one of the new creatures included in Rime of the Frostmaiden is a dragon construct made entirely out of the material. It is impossibly evil, corrupt and malevolent and dangerous to anything that comes nearby. WizKids has been tasked with creating the miniature representation of the fearsome Chardalyn Dragon, and it looks like they’ve done a fantastic job. Take a look.

That dragon is massive. It’s the biggest dragon by far that WizKids produces, measuring up at more than 200mm long. And it’s so detailed too, just look at it, glowing with a malevolent gleam. That’s exactly the sort of thing you want to be able to drop onto your tabletop when the time comes. And what’s more, you can be sure you’ll have it to drop onto said table, because it’s up for pre-order right now. Check it out below.

Chardalyn Dragon – $79.99

The Chardalyn Dragon is a construct. The evil suffusing the dragon’s chardalyn body imbues the construct with malevolence, allowing it to enjoy the terror it stokes. This malevolence extends beyond the dragon, corrupting other creatures who get too close to it. Those affected by this malevolence become eager to help the dragon inflict suffering on others.

An incredibly powerful foe, the dragon likes to tear foes apart with its jaws and claws, as well as knock down doors and other structures. Against enemies it cannot reach, it fires a beam of destructive radiance from its open maw.

Over 200mm long, the Chardalyn Dragon is an excellent addition to your miniatures collection. Sculpted with highly detailed features and using premium paints, it is an incredible addition to your adventure in Icewind Dale!

Happy Adventuring!
