There’s a new Battle Standard Bearer in town and she’s going to rally the troops for the Sisters of Battle!

Games Workshop is showcasing a brand new miniature for the Adepta Sororitas and she’s got a big banner to fly. Check out this new Reliquant at Arms – Sister Aestred Thurga.

“The position of Reliquant at Arms is typically given to long-standing members of the Orders Pronatus, the holy protectors and reclaimers of the thousands of artefacts coveted by the Adepta Sororitas. They are skilled both in the care and restoration of ancient relics, as well as the destruction of those who would do them harm – so it’s definitely handy to have one around when a crusade is calling.”

That is one fancy banner! The banner is named “Auto-Tapestry of the Emperor’s Judgement” and it seems quite fitting. It was “weaved across the lifespans of five Canonesses” which means it must of taken quite a long time to create – or the Canonesses weren’t very studious in completing the banner. I’m betting that it was the former and not the latter. In any case, this is a sacred relic and a very important one for the Sisters of Battle.

“The banner itself is resplendent with detail, topped with an ornate crown of iron and the skull of a devout, while its bearer strikes a more restrained figure wearing austere robes over her armour, and carrying the mighty Blade of Vigil.”

One more thing to note is that this banner will of course have some special bonuses for the Sisters who fight under it. What those bonuses will be is anyone’s guess right now. But we can make some assumptions based on other armies with banners (looking at you Space Marines).

We know that Company Ancients boost the Leadership of nearby units. Plus, they also allow them to get one final swing before being removed from play. It’s quite possible that the Sisters are going to get a similar option to do just that. Or maybe GW will go with a different direction altogether – we’ll have to wait to find out!

Now we just have to wait for all those new Sisters of Battle models and whatever update book (campaign or codex) with all there rules to come out, too…
