There’s been a bit of a controversy brewing over Warhammer Quest: Cursed City. It’s sold out online and it’s not looking like a return is coming.

Warhammer Quest: Cursed City sold out online in about two hours when it went up for Pre-order. Some folks didn’t even get a chance to order the box so their only hope was to try to get a copy from their FLGS. “No big deal, I’ll get a copy on the reprint…” except it doesn’t look like that is going to happen now.

Uh oh. That doesn’t sound great for fans that wanted to get a copy of the board game. On the one hand, this tweet isn’t directly saying “there won’t be a reprint ever.” However, it IS saying “we are not expecting it to return online.” Which could mean it’s not going to go up again for sale directly from GW’s webstore. Could this open the door for re-orders and re-prints for Warhammer stores and independent retailers? That’s a very big leap and not very likely…but it’s a (rare) possibility.

Currently, the webpage for Cursed City is still up. The How To Play video is available:

And all those models DO have rules and points for use in Age of Sigmar:

But the boxed game itself no longer appears on the Games Workshop Webstore:

So…what’s going on? The controversy really brews from the fact that it wasn’t mentioned that Cursed City would be a limited release. It was positioned that it would be a boxed game that would say in the pipeline and get various expansions and sets like Blackstone Fortress before it. Warhammer Quest: Cursed City seemed like a hit boxed game that would stick around for a while – and now that’s not happening…at least not from the look of things now.

We’re not going to get into all the speculation as to the why Cursed City isn’t “expected to return online.” There’s lot of things floating around in the rumor mill from IP issues with closely related games, supply chain issues, COVID related disruptions or even complications from Brexit. We may never find out for sure.

All we know for now is that Warhammer Quest: Cursed City is sold out and it doesn’t look like it’s coming back anytime soon. However, if you were a fan that wanted a copy but missed out, you could *politely* message GW on their various social media platforms and ask for a re-print. The fan campaign to get Indomitus reprinted worked and GW did a second run for that so it’s not without precedent!

Hey, if Indomitus got a reprint after the fans asked, maybe Cursed City can too!

Would you want to get a copy of Cursed City if Games Workshop did a second run? Let us know in the comments (and maybe tell that to GW).
