“Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been explaining some important rules updates in the new edition, but today the whole system is yours to download and browse at leisure. The beautiful 360-page full rulebook you get inside Dominion will feature so much more of course, but getting familiar with the essentials of the new edition will help you prepare for the big changes about to affect your games.”

To get the rules, click on the flag that best represents your language and a screen will pop-up. Just enter your email address and GW will email you the rules! It should look something like this:

Once you get the email, you can download the PDF and you’re ready to rock and roll (dice).

The BIG Changes

So…you want to know what the BIG changes are from 2.0 to 3.0. Well, we’ve got that covered too:

It’s a long one, but we hit the major highlights pretty hard. So what are the major changes? Here’s list of the topics we covered in the video:

Command Points

Hero Phase (new Heroic Actions)

Movement Phase (can’t retreat AND run)

Shooting Phase (Look Out, Sir! change)

Charge Phase (and new Command Abilities)

Combat Phase (Pile-in Change)

Battleshock (not too much changed)

Terrain & Cover (there is a checklist now)

Objectives (when you control changed)

Wizards And Priests (Arcane Bolt and Mystic Shield Change)

Endless Spells

Controlling Predatory Endless Spells

New Monster Abilities

Reinforced Units (Matched Play Change)

Battalions (Core Battalions)

Matched Play Rules Updates (not in the Core Rules)

And More…

Overall the changes aren’t as sweeping as a long list makes them out to be. They were good changes and tweaks to the core rules for the most part. Games Workshop basically took their previous ruleset and just did a better job of explaining rules and expanding the examples and explanations. If you played 2.0, this shouldn’t be a huge change. It’s the clearest and most through ruleset they have had for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

If you’re an AoS player, do yourself a favor and download the core rules and give them a read first. Unfortunately you won’t have access to the Battleplans (aka the rules sections for Open, Narrative, and Matched Play) but they are in the BRB. We do cover all the big stuff from the Matched Play changes in the video so give that a watch after you read the rules for yourself!

There are lots of subtle changes to the core rules in 3.0!
