Goatboy here again and we have another meta shattering list. The Ork Unbeatable List that blasted all comers to take the gold crown at this year’s SoCal.

Or should I say – problem-solving list.  Right now the game has two very rough Alpha strike flyer builds that are on the tabletop mixed with a very good 9th edition list that does a good job of beating everyone else up.  The 2 Alpha Strike lists don’t care about terrain, can punish you so hard by going first, and most likely will get either specific things nerfed or a specific Battlefield role nerfed.  With that in mind – let’s get the winning list out of the way, piloted by Logan Heath. Congrats Logan!

How It Works

If you read this you can see that a lot of the discussion to remove some of the 1-3 Buggy unit choice would not matter to this army at all.  In fact, this army is so MSU it hurts with all the “issues” removed and just pure damage potential added in.  There is nothing you can just “oops I guess I killed 3 buggies” in this army.  It is super aggressive and once one of the Dakkajets or Wazbom kills something it just goes off with everyone hitting on a 4+.  Between this and the Ad-mech flyer army you can see how most likely GW REALLY needs to look at Flyers rules instead of just point adjustments.

How this army works – have a flyer kill something as you can’t hide from them and profit with Freebootaz.  Everything is fast as heck so calling the SpeedWaagh amps up your damage profile and you are left with everything being dead.  It plays fast, aggressive, and just rolls dice to victory.  I think the MSU aspects of it are also very powerful as it helps mitigate some of the damage it can take if someone gets mixed into a unit of Buggies.  Oh, and there are multiple bubbles of 6+ to 5+ invulnerable saves with Ramshackle to keep these things chugging along.

Houston, We Have a (Flyer) Problem

What do you think GW should do?  Should flyers start off the board and start coming in on Turn 2?  This would give your armies a chance to power up, hold points etc?  But it also means you have less of a chance to go first and kill a few of them.  Would you go after some of the rules that make them very powerful?  We now have 2 flyer focussed alpha-death armies and then Drukhari could go into Alpha-death too with their flyers as well.

Are we just waiting on Eldar to come and complete the Flyer doom or will we get something to fix this?
