Are you an Adeptus Astartes player of any flavor? Then you should be excited for the second wave of Black Templar releases  and here’s why!

The next wave of Black Templars are on the way this weekend and they have some great new models on the way. These models hint at some of the cool things that GW could pull over in the future for the rest of the Space Marines out there. So let’s talk about a few of the key wargear options we’ve noticed in this wave.

New Scouts

We’ve talked about this before so we won’t harp on this subject for long. Let’s just say we’re excited to see some Primaris Marines wearing actual Scout armor that’s been refitted to uh…fit their new Primaris proportions.

New Weapons

Again, we’ve mentioned this particular weapon before but seriously…how long do you think it’s going to be before this weapon filters out to the rest of the Space Marines. Salamanders are already lining-up at the Imperial Weapon Emporium for a crack at the new Pyreblasters.

It’s going to be a hot new item for Marines…eventually.

Even MORE Weapons

The new Sword Brethren Squad has some spicy weapon options as well. They have various combi-weapons and close combat options that really make them stand out. However, they have someone in particular that jumped out at me:

Folks, that’s a Primaris Marine with Lightning Claws. We’ve been wondering how long it would be for that to happen. And, once again, The Black Templars are paving the way.

More Relics

We could go into how the characters are all really great updates and how GW pretty much nailed the Black Templar refresh. But we did that. No, the last thing I want to leave folks with is the truly excellent accessory sprue for the Black Templars. I REALLY hope that GW takes this particular model and applies to the other Space Marine Chapters. What’s so great about this kit? Well, aside from the very Black Templar aesthetic of all these bits, it’s the fact that the relics you can take in the book are actually modeled in the set.

We need more kits like this for EVERYONE – not just Space Marines. Can you imagine and upgrade sprue/kit that allowed you to have a physical bit that represented your favorite relic(s)? Think of all the cool conversions and unique models you could make with these style of relic bits? This is just great for folks who really want to go the extra mile for WYSIWYG models and I appreciate that. Now, don’t get it twisted – I DON’T think you should required to have the specific bit if you want to use that specific relic. But I do think it’s cool to have the option. (If you want to use the relic, as long as it’s in the roster and you point it out beforehand then that’s all it should take. But bonus hobby points for having a cool conversion.)

The second wave of Black Templar goodies is on the way and I hope this is just a tease at the future of what the Space Marines release could be.
