How good is the new Fury of the Deep boxed set? It’s packed with some really impressive models and new rules!

Fury of the Deep is up for Pre-order today and we’ve got our hands on the new box. Our Man Clint has taken a liking to the new boxed set as well:

Fury of the Deep – You’ll Need This One

If you’re playing either the Idoneth Deepkin or the Fyreslayers you’re going to want to pick this box up. Why? Because it’s the only place to get the new heroes for either faction. We’ve taken a look a previews already for both of their rules and while we have some questions, they both seem like they have some potential.

The Idoneth Deepkin

The Akhelian Thrallmaster’s ability seems like a really nice boost to friendly Namari Thralls. Keep in mind the thralls in particular have a 2″ reach so it’s a little easier to pack in a lot of attacks with that unit to benefit from these stances. The Akhelian Allopexes also got an update with this box and it’s making those look MIGHTY tempting to take as well.

The Fyreslayers

The Masterflame Rune rules aren’t my personal favorite. That’s mostly because of how you have to activate them. My other issues with them revolve around questions about stacking the buffs. Particularly, there’s nothing that we could find that says you can’t stack that damage buff on a single unit multiple times. We’re going to need an FAQ on this ability pretty quick. I doubt that GW is going to change how the activation works but some clarification on if you can apply the same buff to a unit multiple times would be PRETTY helpful. This buff shouldn’t stack that way, but I could see a unit getting the benefits of two or more of the different buffs at once.

Fury of the Deep

The great magmahold of Ryftmar stands upon the precipice of disaster, ravaged by centuries of war and battered by the acidic tides of the Vitriol Sea. With every passing day, it seems closer to collapsing into the hungry waves. Sensing blood in the water, a great host of Idoneth Deepkin rise from the ocean depths, the aelves determined to harvest the souls of Ryftmar’s doomed for their own ends. The wrathful Fyreslayers, staunch warrior-sons of Grimnir, will not allow their flame to be quenched so easily.

Whether you’re eager to reap the soul harvest or determined to kindle the embers of your dying home back into a roaring fire, you will find a sizeable force in this box to suit your needs, as well as two brand new miniatures. Bolster your existing army with reinforcements or choose a side in the battle for Ryftmar and start a new fighting force.

Inside, you’ll find 43 plastic Citadel miniatures, including:
– 1x Auric Flamekeeper
– 5x Auric Hearthguard, also able to be built as Hearthguard Berzerkers
– 5x Hearthguard Berzerkers, also able to be built as Auric Hearthguard
– 10x Vulkite Berzerkers

– 1x Akhelian Thrallmaster
– 1x Akhellian Allopex
