One Flash will see a 9th season on the CW. The other is using his IG to hash out some beef with a chapter of the KKK.

If you’re a fan of Scarlet Speedster, your Twitter feed was on fire this weekend.

On a note of Lawful Good, Grant Gustin has signed on for The Flash season 9. This sets up the show to become the longest-running series in the Arrowverse.

Of course, then there’s the Chaotic Good Flash. Ezra Miller, star of the DCEU’s upcoming Flash movie, took to Instagram with a message for a small-town chapter of the KKK.

Grant Gustin to Return for The Flash Season 9

On Friday, Deadline confirmed that Grant Gustin has signed a one-year contract for an upcoming CW show. The season will air 15 episodes. The Flash is expected to renew for a 9th season now that its lead actor is on board.

Fans of the show were pleasantly surprised at the news– season 8 ended neatly enough that the show could have been done. Earlier this month, it was announced that CBS and Warner Bros. are discussing the potential sale of the CW. This Flash news, so hot on the tails of the sale announcement, is a good sign for fans of the Arrowverse.

While the universe of Earth-1 grew up around the dark atmosphere in Arrow, Grant Gustin’s Flash is a real heart-warmer. There’s plenty of darkness in DC’s multiverse of on-screen stories. After the last two years, fans are overjoyed at the possibility of more of the CW’s wholesome Barry Allen.

Content Warning! Past this point is a mention of suicide. Being up to date on the news is cool, but if you need to scroll on the best care for yourself, do so.

Ezra Miller Threatens the KKK

“Ezra Miller takes on the Klan” wasn’t on a single person’s 2022 BINGO card. But whoo boy, put a big, red ‘X’ on that square.

In a video posted Friday morning, Ezra calls out the Beulaville KKK– even going as far as to tell its members to commit suicide. They go on to say that if the Klan members don’t kill themselves, it will be done for them.

At the moment, it’s unknown why the actor called out this specific small North Carolina town’s chapter. There is no online presence for the KKK in that area. But Ezra clearly referred to (an) incident(s) that are causing them concern.

The actor was wearing their Flash ring in video. Naturally, some fans are loving the idea of Barry Allen sticking it to an organization of racists. Hell, I see the appeal. In DC comics, Superman has gone head-t0-head with the Klan. But the Flash? Well, that would be a first.

Still, many fans are more concerned for Ezra’s personal safety. I’m concerned. Fictional superheroes are all well and good in an ideological fight, but many fans are afraid that the actor has painted a target on themselves.

Flashing Forward

Ezra’s video is intense– but publicly threatening an American terrorist organization do be like that. Many fans feel that Ezra’s anti-racist energy is something they’d love to see radiate through the world of celebrity. But in the spirit of saving lives, I hope that Ezra is prioritizing their own safety and wellbeing, too.

So while we all wait for our heart rates to return to normal, this seems like a great time to binge-watch the CW’s Flash series. That way we’re all ready for season 9. Plus, we’ll get to see our Chaotic and Lawful Flashes side-by-side before Ezra’s film release this fall.

‘The Flash’ movie is set to hit theaters November 4th. There’s no release date for CW’s ‘The Flash’ season 9 yet.
