The T’au have access to big buffs from their different Septs. Plus, you can build your own version, too!

T’au Empire Septs are a lot like the different Chapters of the Space Marines. Each one comes with their own set of special extra rules that provide some bonuses to help you play with a certain style. Today we’re getting a closer look at some of those Sept rules. We’re also getting a look at how you can build your own custom Sept, too.

“There are six major septs in codex T’au, from the ubiquitous T’au and Vior’la to the more specialised Dal’yth and Bork’an. Each gains a sept tenet, a Warlord Trait, a Signature System Relic, and an exclusive Stratagem, representing the character of the worlds they live on.”

T’au Sept Rules

If you want to play a T’au Army with more auxiliaries in your ranks then the Dal’yth are a good option. They are known of having more Kroot and Vepids in their forces. This Sept’s Tenet confers the benefits your Tactical Philosophy to those units.

The Sa’cea Sept is known for hard fought battles and to win them. In 40k, if you want to win the game you need to focus on taking Objectives. The Sa’cea Sept’s Warlord Trait can help you do just that. By making a unit that might not normally be able to have Objective Secured suddenly have it.

“The T’au Sept is well known for its efficiency in battle, and its Vectored Manoeuvring Thrusters give your (already upgraded) battlesuits even more mobility. Should your enemy try to catch you on the charge, you can perform an elegant feint and leave them in prime position for punishment.”

Bork’an also has some fancy weapons at their disposal. With this stratagem a unit can have a model ignore Invulnerable saves! That could be super effective at ensuring your big guns fines it’s mark.

Custom T’au Septs

Here’s where things get a tad more complicated for the T’au. If you want to build your own Sept, you’ve got some extra rules to follow.

“When creating your own Sept Tenet, you must therefore pick two tenets from neighbouring sectors on the map below, representing the limited range of influence your army can draw from.”

It’s actually not that complex. You just have to refer to this sector map when you’re choosing your options. Each sector has 4 options and by mixing and matching you’ve got over 100 combos to choose from.

Here’s a pair of examples to gawk at from GW:

It’s going to be fun to see what that community comes up with!
