There’s a new seasonal update for Age of Sigmar with a new Battlescroll Update. “The Hunt” is changing up the meta with a new take on the balance of the game.

“For those in need of a refresher, Battlescrolls gather rules changes, points changes, and other tweaks into a simple, easy-to-read format, giving you the information you need to balance a close-fought matched play game of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.”

Priority Targets And Prime Hunters

Games Workshop has introduced a new mechanism into the game to address some balance issues without having to completely redo points changes or invalidate an existing army. Enter their expanded take on the Predators and Prey rule courtesy of the new Battlescroll Update.

So which units got picked? Let’s take a look:

You might notice a few things from this selection of units.

“The lists of Priority Targets and Prime Hunters have been built based on both feedback from tournament players as well as analysis of data from hundreds of events.”

The Priority Targets are some of the more dominant units in the game right now. You can check out the WarCom article for more details on why these units were selected. But the short answer is that these units are really good right now for various reasons. So this is sort of like a Bounty for those units.

You can still include them in your lists and they are going to perform well. But when those units are destroyed they will reward bonus points. Furthermore, if you’re playing as one of the Prime Hunter armies, you’re ALSO going to get an additional bonus point for taking out a Priority Target.

One more thing to remember about the Battlescroll Update:

“It’s important to keep in mind that our regular Battlescroll updates are focused on game balance in matched play, with a particular focus on organised play and events. If you’re new to the game or tend to play more casually, it’s totally up to you and your opponent whether to include this system in your games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar.”

Again, these are focused on Matched Play and in particular organized play events. You don’t have to use them for casual play games. In the meantime, you can download the Battlescroll and you should see these changes appear in the Warhammer Age of Sigmar App “very soon.”

What do you think of this new balancing mechanism from the Battlescroll Update?
