Age of Sigmar: Target Acquired – 5 Models that Should Be Priority Targets

The harsh lands of Ghur breed the finest hunters and the harshest prey, but I think a few juicy targets are missing from AoS’ Priority Target list.

In an effort to bring more balance to the game, Games Workshop has brought a brand new set of rules to Matched Play. Called “The Hunt”, these rules hand out VP for taking out especially deadly models, or for playing one of the weaker factions in the current meta. The list of targets includes several of the heaviest hitters in the game, and will hopefully make generals think twice about bringing those units exclusively, knowing they might be handing their opponent free points. However, the list seems a little lacking, and I think there are a few models that belong on the hunt list. Here are five more baddies that I think should be added to the Priority Target list.

Gotrek

While the deadliest Slayer alive isn’t exactly a big monster, he’s certainly deadly on the battlefield. He swings far above his weight class, and can put down almost anything he touches. However, his combat prowess isn’t the reason I think he belongs on the list. While he hits like a Steam Tank pulled by Bloodthirsters, he moves at the speed of smell, and most savvy generals just avoid him. Adding him to the victory list would encourage enemies to at least try to bring him down, and make him a little more worthwhile as an ally, even just to bait the opponent into attacking him.

Skarbrand

The nastiest of all the Bloodthirsters, Skarbrand is one of the deadliest melee combatants in the game, especially in the Baleful Lords subfaction. He can easily level an entire army by his lonesome, and he’s always got an entire Khorne army backing him up. He is notoriously unfun to face down without dedicated effort to kill, and once you’ve done that the rest of his army will grind you to dust. Making him worth VP would level that playing field, and make dedicating assets to taking him down worthwhile. Besides, if Kairos is on there, Skarbrand should DEFINITELY be.

Kragnos

Frankly I was surprised not to see this big bruiser on the list. While he is easy enough to deal with, he is beyond devastating on the charge, and he can annihilate the enemy line with ease. Plus, he’s the master of beasts and the god of Destruction (model-wise at least, no offense to the great Gork and Mork). Of all the models in the game, he should be a Priority Target, even if just to support the lore. After all, any warrior that could claim to have even temporarily laid Kragnos low would inspire an insane amount of morale.

Nagash

Another god model, Nagash is the mean old man of the Realms, and he’s had his face checked several times. He’s basically the punch clown of AoS, but he’s still a pain in the neck thanks to his arcane prowess. Taking him down isn’t easy, regardless of what his track record might suggest, and at least Order would be all too happy to take him down a peg. If you can crack through all his magical protection, I think you deserve a VP.

Teclis

This may just be because I don’t like him, but I’d love another reason to wipe that smug look of Teclis’s face. On the tabletop, he’s a magical monster, and he can throw down a nasty amount of damage alongside his faction. Taking him out should already be a priority, so rewarding it would just make it all the more rewarding. Plus, it might actually make him fun to play against, unlike the current game of watching your army melt under an arcane barrage.

Who do you think belongs on the list?
