The Mandalorian Season 3 is underway and an icon of time travel has been added to its cast.

Most folks know Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown from the Back to the Future franchise. It’s been confirmed he’ll be part of another sci-fi classic of the era: Star Wars.

The actor’s role in The Mandalorian season 3 is being kept under wraps and Lucasfilm isn’t talking. I’m hoping he has some relation to Amy Sedaris’ Peli Motto. The comedy possibilities there are endless. We also haven’t seen him in a villain role in a bit – and he’s great at them. Djin will be exploring more of the galaxy in his N-1 Starfighter, so there are an infinite number of possibilities for new characters.

Any ideas or hopes for what Lloyd will be in season three?

This isn’t the first time the show has brought a fan favorite from an old franchise back to the screen. The Terminator‘s Michael Biehn showed up as  a Magistrate’s right hand man last season. They’ve also called up Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, and Werner Herzog in the last two seasons.

The Mandalorian season 3 is in production right now in Southern California. There’s bound to be some more casting and other news as they move forward. No news on a release date beyond late this year.
