Game insiders say the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be getting an official announcement at Star Wars Celebration this May.

Star Wars Celebration is right around the corner on May 26th, and we’re already getting rumors of upcoming announcements. Most recently, we may be seeing a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Fallen Order 2 Is Coming

Gaming insider, Jeff Grubb addressed a question about a potential Fallen Order 2 with a definitive yet vague answer.

“We’re going to hear about that in May at Star Wars Celebration. So keep an eye out for that because that’s where it’s happening.”

Usually EA, the company responsible for Jedi: Fallen Order, would make big announcements and reveal trailers at their annual event, EA Play. But the event has been cancelled for 2022, leaving a vacuum for video game announcements. Luckily, the previously postponed Star Wars Celebration will be happening this May, making it the perfect place to reveal a new Fallen Order game.

When?! And Do We Have Details?!

While it’s hard to speculate about a game that we haven’t even seen announced for certain yet, there are still guesses as to when we could hope to be playing an upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel. Grubb doesn’t have an answer, but he speculates that “later this year could almost make sense,” while others think that 2023 may make more sense if we’re expecting an announcement and maybe a teaser trailer a few months from now.

Reports suggest that Fallen Order 2 would feature characters returning from the first game, some with larger parts to play. But there are also supposed to be appearances from existing Star Wars character who never appeared in the first installment at all.

This is good news for fans of the Star Wars video games. Recently it was announced that Star Wars: Eclipse would be seeing significant delays. With an original release window of 2023-2025 and a new estimate closer to 2027-2028, Eclipse feels more like a distant dream than a game we can really get excited about. Combined with numerous issues coming from the Quantin Dream camp, it’s hard to look forward to that one. But a Fallen Order sequel could be a welcome distraction and return to a story and characters we already like.

The First One

Star Was Jedi: Fallen Order follows Cal Kestis, a survivor of the infamous Order 66. Players help him escape Imperial capture, find a new Jedi master, and continue his training in the force. Throughout Fallen order we are introduced to a new Inquisitor, befriend the galaxy’s cutest droid, and face off against some of the most terrifying people in the galaxy. It’s a great game for which a sequel will be welcomed. We can’t wait to see what what trailer, and other announcements, come out of Star Wars Celebration this May.
