Video Games: ‘Doctor Who’ is About To Make ‘Fortnight’ a Little Bit Timey Wimey
Nothing like The Doctor landing the TARDIS in the middle of your Fortnite game to make everything a little more wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey.
Yesterday BBC Studios announced an upcoming crossover between Fortnight and Doctor Who. Fans may assume this means new skins, but with The Doctor, anything worth doing is worth doing right. Fortnight playing fans of Doctor Who won’t just be getting a fun new aesthetic to play with. They’ll be getting an entire experience.

Doctor Who in Fortnight
Players will have the opportunity to visit a new island specially designed to feature The Doctor’s police box/time machine, the TARDIS (or Time And Relative Dimensions In Space). And yes, it is bigger on the inside. From there, players will be sent on a mission to repair the TARDIS by collecting “Dynamorphic Generator Crystals” from around the island.
Once the TARDIS is back in working order, players will be able to visit four locations inspired by the long running series. These include box fights at the Kerblam! warehouse, escaping the Tsuranga QuadZone Rescue Craft, death matches with Daleks, and a Doctor Who museum complete with all of The Doctor’s various outfits, friends, and foes.
Ok, you know the drill. Don’t blink. Don’t even blink.
Return to Gallifrey
Playing and completing the map will unlock spray designs. But the real prize may be heading to a virtual Gallifrey.
About the crossover, Global Director of Gaming and Interactive at BBC, May Way, said:
“Developing an island in Fortnite is new territory for Doctor Who and we’re excited to welcome the game’s established players into the Whoniverse. This is a great opportunity to introduce a gaming audience to Doctor Who and also for the existing community to experience a brand-new adventure. Players can expect a fast-paced, unpredictable journey with familiar friends and foes making appearances along the way.”
Doctor Who is a classic piece of television sci-fi. Since 1963 The Doctor has been traveling in his space-slash-time machine, the TARDIS, solving the universe’s problems everywhere they can. With references and spoofs in everything from Supernatural to Sesame Street, Doctor Who is a fan favorite that’s transcended generations. If you missed space ship on Doctor Who though, the 2005 series reboot is a great place for new fans to start. And there are thirteen seasons worth of adventures to look forward to.
