It’s time to take a closer look at the Big Boys for the Tyranids. The Monsters are bringing the big boom!

The Tyranid Monsters are getting some updated bio-weapons to deal with armor (and anything else for that matter) in the new Tyranid Codex. Today, Games Workshop is showcasing a few of those upgrades. It’s time to take a look at the big guns of the Tyranids.

“The Tyrannofex’s rupture cannon has long been one of the largest living weapons deployed to the battlefield, and its latest incarnation is a certified Titan-killer. This ingenious weapon fires two massive projectiles in quick succession, the first coating the target in acidic goo before the second penetrates their armour and dissolves to cause an almighty explosion from within.”

Tyranid Heavy Weapon Rules

This is a MASSIVE upgrade in the damage department. 3 shots at Strength 14, AP -4 and a MINIMUM of 5 damage per hit is a huge improvement. Games Workshop rightly points out that this weapon is now a Knight killer. That’s going to be handy considering they are about to get a new codex, too. The Rupture Cannon also has a very respectable 3 shots so it’s going to also be a threat to vehicle squadrons as well.

The Fleshborer Hive also got a boost in damage. If you’ve got a swarm of infantry to take out those 30 shots should help trim it down! Either bio-weapon is a great option for their specific role.

The Heavy Venom Cannon is also even deadlier than before. 3 shots at Str 9 with AP -3 and a flat 4 damage make this quite a solid option. It might be time to start packing those on your big bugs, too!

The Tyranid Codex is coming very soon and the Hive Mind has been making plans to feast on the rest of the competition!
