Can Michael Bay still make a fun movie? Join the One of Us crew for their Ambulance review.

Will (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is willing to do about anything to save his wife by getting the money so she can have an operation to save his life. And that includes lying to her about reconnecting with his ne’er do well brother Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal).

Danny’s got a plan to rob a bank and when Will shows up to ask him for a loan, he puts to him, hey…it’s be part of the crew on this job that’s happening literally right now, or I can’t help you. So Will goes along with it, but almost immediately everything goes completely tits up, the cops are chasing them, and the two of them are on the run in a stolen ambulance along with an EMT (Eiza González) and a cop they seriously wounded during the job (Jackson White). The only thing keeping the cops from blowing them the hell up is that they know they’ve got the wounded cop, and THEY know that despite driving all over LA in a high-speed chase, they’ve got to keep the cop from dying.

Ambulance Review

This is Michael Bay taking an 80 minute Danish thriller and stretching it out to 136 minutes. Chris, Marco, and Alan fully admit there’s a lot more to like here than in a lot of the other recent Bay efforts, but that praise is pretty limited.
