Spelljammer Confirmed. Unless it isn’t! Wizards of the Coast revealed a Spelljammer Teaser on April 1st and who knows what’s real anymore.

What is real? How do you define real? Whether you’re talking about electrical signals interpreted by your brain or the blasted wasteland that lies outside of the neural-interactive simulation, any and all definitions go out the window on April 1st.

This is the day that companies typically poke fun at themselves and their consumers. Most often this is with fake updates, joke announcements, and so on. Except every joke contains a nugget of truth, or so the saying goes.

One need look no further than this past Saturday to see that Squats, for instance, are no laughing matter.

But that kind of lines-blurring makes it even harder to determine if WotC’s latest “Spelljammer Teaser” is legit or not.

Spelljammer…Confirmed?

On April 1st, the official Wizards D&D Twitter Account set a small portion of the online community ablaze with the teaser pictured above. Two simple words, Spelljammer Confirmed.

But context is everything. Many are left to wonder if Wizards of the Coast is pulling the ol’ reveal a product stealthily and then followup later with more news like “what you thought we were joking?” routine.

Especially since there are a few other things that suggest we might see something from Spelljammer in the not too distant future.

Pictured above is a concept image for the cover of an upcoming book revealed last year during the “future of D&D” panel. The miniature giant space hamster gracing the front is none other than Boo, the eye-loving companion of the heroic Ranger, Minsc.

But that’s not the only thing we have to go on. Back in October of 2021, we saw an Unearthed Arcana titled Travellers of the Multiverse. And front and center in that UA? A bunch of races straight out of the old Spelljammer setting.

All of which adds up to one giant shrug emoji. Is this finally the hour? Or is there longer still yet to wait.

Time alone can tell.
