A new The Black Phone trailer shows every parent’s nightmare – a child has been kidnapped and must be found before it’s too late.

It’s been a while since news has dropped about this horror based on a Joe Hill story. Our first look introduced The Grabber and his latest victim.

New Trailer

One of the most anticipated horror films of the year finally has a solid release date. Plus a new trailer with a better look at what Taylor is dealing with and who is helping him.

The kidnapping genre in horror isn’t new, but the angle this movie takes is novel. A kid fighting against a creepy mask-wearing killer with the help of his previous victims from beyond the grave – it is something I’ve never seen before.

Black Phone is based on a short story by Joe Hill (one of the minds behind Locke & Key) and the script is from C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Doctor Strange). Derrickson is also directing – he’s got more than one horror title to his name. That combination is one of the many reasons I’m really interested in seeing this. Ethan Hawke as a deranged serial killer with a mask fetish is another.

The Black Phone Cast & Details

Other stars include newcomer Mason Thames, as well as James Ransone (It: Chapter 2), Jeremy Davies (Lost), E. Roger Mitchell (Outer Banks), and Madeline McGraw (Pacific Rim: Uprising). The Grabber’s masks were designed by the legendary Tom Savini.

Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

Black Phone arrives in theaters on June 24th.
