Want to see how bosses will work in 40K: Chaos Gate Daemonhunters? Check out this gameplay stream showing off the Great Unclean One!

Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters looms ever closer. And in a new livestream, the devs face down a Great Unclean One and we get a look at the killer mechanics of Nurgle’s best and brightest.

The problem with Nurgle’s best and brightest is that you have to look at them. This two-hour livestream gives us a great idea of what’s coming next though. We get to start off, as always, aboard the ship. We get a closer look at some of the unit customization and upgrades. Which is basically half of the game. You play so that you can get the best stuff to make the best Grey Knights. And it looks like it will be incredibly satisfying to kit out a squad.

And then things take an immediate turn as the newly customized squad squares off with a Great Unclean One.

Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters – Great Unclean One Gameplay

Here we see Aeger, the Benevolent. He is a jovial fellow who only wants to give the people on his world a wonderful gift. When the Grey Knights refuse his hospitality, he politely and respectfully requests that they leave. Which is great. Nurgle is every bit as generous as he is in the 40K lore. It plays out wonderfully in these streams. That’s what makes Nurgle one of the best Chaos villains.

And as you’ll see in the streams, the mechanics for fighting this boss are more complex than just pour every ounce of prometheum you have into his corpulent form. Scattered around the map are Nurgling Spawners, which, if left unchecked, will overwhelm your squad.

Removing them is key. But while you’re doing that, you still have to fight the Great Unclean One, and all of his Plaguebearer Pals. Because in Chaos Gate: Daemonhunter, Great Unclean Ones are nothing, if not beloved by Nurgle’s forces. And also horrifically detsructive.

This game looks like it will be a blast.

Get ready, 40K Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters (and the Great Unclean Ones) launches May 5th
