It’s been a long time coming, but the IG, ahem… Astra Militarum finally have a raft of rumors. Take a look.

The IG have had a long lamentable 8th and 9th Edition.  Abe has been beside himself with grief for years. But apparently coming up towards the tail end of 9th Edition codexes, it was perhaps only a matter of time until some Astra Militarum rumors started to trickle down.

Here’s the latest.

The Rumors

Somehow we have three batches to catch up with. These have all been kindly collated together over at B&C.

Batch 1

These come from Valrek and are roughly a month old:

  • Plastic/Re-Cast Kasrkin
  • Dorn (a tank) is chunky, comes with lots of weapons (but could still have a name change!)
  • A new infantry kit, with a shift towards a more “veteran” -theme, sort of like “the last sons of Cadia”
  • New Command Squad
  • New Heavy Weapons Team
  • New Sentinels, which will be “Cawl-ified”, aka better tech?
  • New HQs/Commissars/Generals

Batch 2

These come via Simply Warhammer who got it from a playtester (who has been right on several codexes before, including Aeldari)

  • Rogal Dorn Tank will be Toughness 9, also probably 15/16 wounds
  • Tank Commanders BS 4+ but Leman Russ turrets will be plus one to hit and can fire out of combat
  • Deathstrikes revamped esp firing mechanism, 3D3 mortal wounds to everything within 6 inches and can fire 3 missiles
  • Krieg in the codex

Batch 3

These come via Reddit

  • A new Lord Solar in the book and that he will be riding something…

Thoughts

The Leman Russ kit is well over 25 years old and has been updated several times to make all those variants. Like classic marines, I think everyone who is in any way interested in Astra Militarum has a bunch of them. So the talk of a new Rogal Dorn tank is a way to make a bunch of new versions (IG tanks always have tons of variants), to add excitement to the range. I still remember when folks lost their minds when the Valkyrie was first unveiled!

Do you remember the day?

Krieg being in the new codex is a no brainer. It was obvious they are the future the moment we saw the full detailed sprues that came with Kill Team.  It would make sense that a lot of those new Command and Heavy Weapon teams are Krieg to fill out their plastic range.

Finally, with the loss of Creed to Trayzyn’s museum in the Fall of Cadia – a new big hero for the IG is needed. A new Lord Solar BETTER be Macharius!  It’s 40K, and Macharius has an intact body in a tomb. They can bring him back!  I’m sure Cawl and Bobby G can call 1-800-Yvraine and make it happen!
