Horus Heresy: More Factions Face Off In The Age of Darkness
The Space Marine Legions might be waging war on each other in The Horus Heresy. But they aren’t the only factions fighting in the Age of Darkness.
Over the weekend we got to see lots of the new stuff coming to the Horus Heresy. It was also confirmed as a new game that will be supported for the long haul. The Boxed Set isn’t a limited edition! That also means there’s room for growth in …other directions.
The Horus Heresy is set in during a particularly turbulent time in the Imperium’s history. The Space Marine Legions are split and fighting against each other across the galaxy as the Traitors and Loyalists wage war. But the conflict wasn’t just Space Marine vs Space Marine action. There were other factions that got involved in the fighting.
At launch the plan is to have these two books for all your Space Marine Legion rules needs. However, after that, there will also been a few more books coming to support those other factions.
Age of Darkness Factions
“While the Liber Astartes and Liber Hereticus allow Space Marines players to use their full collections right away, factions like the Mechanicum, the Solar Auxilia, and the Talons of the Emperor will be joining them very soon. Including, amongst other things, full Knight armies for the Age of Darkness.”
Each of these factions will be getting their own Horus Heresy book for use in the Age of Darkness. There’s even plans for more “esoteric things” to get rules — including discontinued models. Those rules will be released via a PDF from Games Workshop called Legacies of the Age of Darkness PDF. We’ll be keeping an eye out for that one for sure!
So, if you’re interested in playing in The Horus Heresy setting but wanted to play a different faction besides (or in addition to) Space Marines then you’ll be able to! Who knows what else GW might be willing to give the Plastic Treatment and bring over to the updated Horus Heresy setting.
