Age of Sigmar: Future Sword – 3 Things the Rumor Might Be

You see a sword. I see endless possibilities, and all of them with pointy ears.

Well the scrying pools of the Rumor Engine are at it again with a look into the future. Even though it’s only a partial glimpse, the shape and design of the sword tells a lot more than we think. While it could easily be some 40k stuff, and I doubt anyone would complain, I’m thinking this is a throwback to a few fantasy tropes of old. Here are 3 speculations I have about what that scimitar might mean, with no small amount of hope attached.

Druchi Corsairs

I know we already have these, but a more dedicated faction could be really cool, especially with a few old friends. The design of the sword is both Dark Elf and Pirate in design, so it would make sense to have the Corsairs get a bit more manpower. Maybe even Lokhir could make a comeback to lead these warriors, in direct opposition to Morathi like the warriors at Anvilgard.  I doubt he’d approve of her misuse of Khaine’s name, and would likely side with Malerion against her. It would be awesome to see a dedicated army, maybe as part of the Dawnbringer Crusades.

Water Clan Lumineth

We’ve seen the Wind and Earth elements of the Lumineth so far, so Water and Fire are the next logical choice. This sword gives makes me think of blade dancing, or at least a more fluid style of fighting, which I think fits with a water aspect. Rumors around the aether are that Tyrion himself will be leading these other two factions, which would be absolutely incredible. I’d love to see the greatest warrior Asur ever produced leading an army of acrobatic warriors to face Order’s problems (or face off with his Shadow cousin but…well I have a different dog in that fight). And speaking of legendary Aelven warriors…

Umbraneth

It’s a Dark Elf sword, with a studded leather gauntlet. If that doesn’t speak to a long-awaited Umbraneth release, I don’t know what does. It’s everything I could hope for in a Druchi release, which means I’ll probably be disappointed. But, until I’m proven wrong, I’ll be holding out hope that we’ll finally, FINALLY, see the true king of Ulgu come into his own. Morathi should be quaking in her boots at the thought of her son rising against her. After all, the last time she saw him and tried to flex, it didn’t go so well. I really hope this is a sign of that.
