WizKids has announced a new, limited collector’s box full of Beholders. How many? Three, all prepainted and ready to make the scene.

They say that beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. Well, frequently, the rest of the party is in its stomach. Or wherever they end up after getting defeated by these floating eye tyrants from a mind dimension born only of madness.

Beholders, or Eye Tyrants, as they’re sometimes called, are a big part of D&D’s history. They’re one of the weirder monsters in the manual. But through the years they’ve stuck around. From the earliest days of pre-1st edition, when Beholders were a lot more round, to the fanged maws and chitinous eye-stalk friends we know today, Beholders make for interesting foes.

A big part of this is their variety of abilities. Every Beholder has an array of eye stalks that can shoot different blasts of magic. A beholder might charm you, harm you, alarm you, or disintegrate you. They’re the perfect big bad to be the head of an evil organization.

Xanathar, of Guide to Everything fame, is a Beholder. And head of a society of thieves and pirates. And that’s just one. With WizKids’ new collector series, you’ll get three Beholders.
