Games Workshop Rumor Engine: ‘Bowling For Skulls’

3 Minute Read
Jun 28 2022

If bowling exists in the Warhammer Universe then the bowling balls would be skulls. This Rumor Engine proves it.

It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for a new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. Skulls and Warhammer go together like peanut butter and jelly. Or maybe chocolate and peanut butter. In any case the Rumor Engine is here with a tease from the future!

“We’re in for a chaotic week here at Warhammer-Community.com – as if the impending arrival of Codex: Chaos Space Marines weren’t enough, the Rumour Engine has taken on a rather warped, spiky appearance. The voices assure us it’s just a seasonal change, and we’ll be back to normal soon…”

Bowling For Skulls

See — totally bowling with skulls! So what are we even looking at? Well, we’ve got a clawed hand gripping a skull that looks picked clean.  My first inclination (besides bowling) was that this could be some sort of Ghoul or Undead creature.

But then I noticed the paint scheme. Even in this gray scale image you can see the hand is painted much lighter than the back of hand and arm. That leads up into the belly/torso which has some interesting flaps. This got me thinking that it could be a Troll of some kind.

But the more I looked at the Troggoths the less the hands fit this image. Note the cartoonishly large size relative to the rest of the model.

Even the older Fellwater Troggoths and newer Rockgut Troggoths have hands that are much too large:

So does that rule out a “Troll” option? Maybe not completely but it would have to be a redesign. Then again, this is a NEW model, so that also makes sense. Point is it could be a troll but that’s still unclear. And we still haven’t talked about another possibility either.

You know who likes skulls? The black fingernails would fit a daemon. Are we looking at some type of Chaos creature or daemon? We’re not ruling that out.

So what do you think? Undead? Daemon? Troll? A Space Marine with his gloves off? Let us know your theory in the comments!
