The latest Ms. Marvel TV spot shows her powers in action and hints at some of the emotional challenges she faces as a new super hero.

Ms. Marvel – aka Kamala Khan – is a Pakistani-American teenager with shapeshifting. In the comics, Kamala took up the mantle from Carol Danvers when she became Captain Marvel in 2013. She’s the creation of Sana Amanat, Adrian Alphona, Jamie McKelvie, and G. Willow Wilson; the first volume of the comic won a Hugo award for Best Graphic Story in 2015.

This fan favorite is making the transition to the small screen next month.

Like Spider-Man before her, Kamala is going to have to deal with what it is to be a teenage super hero.

Becoming a super hero is Kamala Khan’s dream, but she discovers that it’s harder than she expected. It’s not just about saving people. There are responsibilities and the need to keep loved ones safe from yourself. It’s not all fun and games. This Ms. Marvel TV spot looks a bit at her worries and there’s some new footage of her powers – including a tease of how she gets them.

Ms. Marvel Details

The new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. She’s an avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe. Kamala is a Super Hero mega-fan with an oversized imagination – particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home. That is until she gets superpowers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with superpowers, right?

The cast is led by newcomer Iman Villani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. Matt Lintz, Anjali Bhimani, Zenobia Shroff, Rish Shah, and Mohan Kapur join her on the screen. Episodes are directed by a talented team, which includes Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Bisha K. Ali is the head writer and is showrunner.

Ms. Marvel arrives on Disney+ on June 8.
