The Steam Summer Sale of 2022 is on. Time to stock up on all those games you’ll probably never play.

If you’re a steam user then you’re probably already in the know. If you’re not, well, it’s time to load up on a bunch of games for CHEAP. The Summer Sale is live and there’s a sorta interesting Alternate Reality Game (ARG) happening, too.

via Steam

Not only are there dozens and dozens of high profile games, there’s thousands more games on sale. If you’ve been adding games to your wishlist all year long now is the time to go deal hunting. However, instead of highlight all the amazing games up for grabs, let’s talk about this weird ARG Steam is running.

Steam ARG?

To start the “Game” you click on the strange “Free Fun This Way” banner that looks very 80s. From there, you get this really odd prompt:

Now, if you’re familiar with previous Steam Seasonal sales, then you know they like to have a bit of fun. Clearly, this is all very tongue-in-cheek. If you play along you can score some rewards like Badges and other fun Steam rewards.

From the looks of the rewards, you can score a total of 10 badges and Steam XP. I played around with it for a few minutes and got to level 3…so it’s not exactly hard. It revolves around finding a bunch of “future” (aka fake) games on the Steam Store. You do have to be logged in to play, however. And by “Future” games these are…uh…well, here’s an example of one:

Again, very much tongue-in-cheek. Check out those game tags. Yeah. Anyhow, if you’re a long time Steam user those badges are fun and worth snagging if for nothing else than to troll your friends with them. So, while you’re loading up your Backlog of games you’re never going to get to, why not check out this goofy Steam ARG and score some badges.
