Lets break out the crystal ball – or Resurrection Orb and gaze upon what will most likely show up on the tournament scene – the Silent King!

You all of course remember the biggest model that blew everyone’s mind at the start of 9th Edition? The Necron Silent King.

Wow did this model get a glow up with the new dataslate balance and points update.  If you haven’t read up on it he got a bunch of new rules, dropped in points, and is now one of the best super HQ choices in the game.  He is might be silent but he for sure is super deadly now.  This guy is coming to take all your candy and leave you broken on the dance floor.  Let’s dive into why he is so good right now.

His 2020 form. He’s better now…

The Silent King

This is the big bad from the Necron army and he just got the CORE keyword.  This means a ton of things now stack on top of him making him an almost must-take.  He also got a points drop, and has so many dang rules that it is just insane to remove from the tabletop.  He has extra models to soak wounds, he can now rebuild those models with the core keyword, and also gets access to a teleport again because he has the CORE keyword.  In some ways it is almost too much he got from gaining CORE so will have to see if it ends up becoming an issue.

Why is the Silent King good?

He can do a lot of damage, is very hard to get rid of, and he has a reroll aura in an army that doesn’t get it too often.  This guy has it all really and it makes him an almost must-take in a Necron list.  It is like they gave Trajann more wounds, a big ole throne to fly around on, and give him an even worse attitude.  This is a centerpiece model that controls the table and will force you to deal with him as he floats up the board – or teleports into an advantageous zone to become a problem.

Sample List

Richard Siegler played this one a battle report when the new points came out so this could be even more insane with the dataslate update.  Still it looks to be a very good board control list utilizing the Silent King.  I have a few questions as I think the Ghost Arc can’t deploy without anyone in it so I expect the Characters to float in it or something else to get changed on it.  Heck this army is almost all CORE so it is just looking meaner and meaner.
