The newest Warcry faction brings along a new gnarly god – Lord Leech, but just who is he?

The new Heart of Ghur starter box for Warcry is right around the corner, and it’s got a lot of awesome new stuff for your tabletop. Tons of Ghurish scenery and a pair of dynamic warbands, the Horns of Hashut and the Rotmire Creed, add a new edge to the game of skirmish warfare. While we have a pretty good idea of who Hashut is, the Rotmire Creed introduce someone new, Lord Leech. Described as a noxious god that blesses his equally gross followers with disease and toxins, he dwells deep in the Ghurish swampland. But just who is this new entity?

Archaon

Most of the other Warcry warbands worship a great entity, but really it’s just an aspect of Archaon. As the Everchosen, he has ascended far beyond mortal men and become something of a god himself. He can channel the gifts of all four of the Greater Gods, so it stands to reason he could bestow noxious gifts on those who follow him. However, while it makes sense for warbands in his home realm, it’s a little more of a stretch to think. The more likely candidate is…

Nurgle

The Lord of Pestilence himself, the Plague God Nurgle would be the perfect Lord Leech. I doubt he cares that some tribal alchemists in Ghur get his name wrong; considering his jovial nature, he might actually be fond of it. The story of the Creed rumors that they were cast out of a Sigmarite City for performing experiments on unwilling subjects. I think Nurgle would eat that sort of initiative up. Besides, we know that the Rotmire Creed is afflicted with horrendous diseases of their own that they love to share with their enemies. Papa Nurgle would be happy to provide those.

Someone New?

It’s possible that Lord Leech is one of the Godbeasts that survived Sigmar’s purge. A creature like that would be eager to do anything that tears down their ancient enemy, and helping a group of Sigmarite exiles would fit the bill perfectly. We’ll just have to wait until release to see for sure.

~Who or what do you think is behind Lord Leech.
