FFVII Executive Producers have divulged some details about the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Crisis Core.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is still a ways away from its proposed Winter 2023 release date, but more news and insights continue to pour in through various interviews.

Thanks to interviews done by Japanese gaming sites Dengeki Online and 4Gamer, we’ve learned a lot of new details about both FFVII Rebirth and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Both interviews are fairly lengthy, but here are the highlights.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

  • The game is titled Rebirth instead of Remake 2, because it can be fully enjoyed on its own. While it is a continuation of the story, you won’t have to play Remake in order to appreciate Rebirth.
  • The plot of the third title in the series is already being worked on.
  • The main focus of the story has not been changed from the original. However, there will be new additions and challenges. This will allow veteran fans to enjoy Rebirth in a whole new way.
  • The graphical quality of the title means the game will be PS5 exclusive.

Crisis Core

  • Zack will have more character development with Crisis Core.
  • The combat system and battles have been significantly improved upon. New quality of life changes has made implementing combos and attacking with magic and abilities much easier.
  • The game will be fully voice-acted, including NPCs.
  • The story of the game will remain unchanged from the PSP original, even when considering the plot changes from FFVII Remake.
