Goatboy here with how to make a lone CSM Lord of Skulls “dancing with myself” work on the tabletop.

You might remember me from an LVO where I became the true king of the Lord of Skulls.  It looks like it is very hard to play 3 Lord of Skulls right now as the CP bonus doesn’t kick in leaving you almost no room.  This means we have to look at playing one. So is it even worth it to run one?  Well the changes in the book had the damage output become better, it has a 2+ armor save now (with Armor of Contempt), and it has more wounds.  So maybe?

2 Warlord traits can grant him some powerful exploding 6’s to hit and better chances to hit as well.  This gives you a 2+ hitting, 2+ armor saved, and giant monster of Khorne. Will it be any good or will a Tau army just shoot him full of holes?  Who knows but it is something to think about especially when you just want to roll around on the able top with two giant jerks of doom. Let’s get the dancing started…

Dancing By Myself to Victory?

This is all about boosting the one Lord of Skulls to go big or going home.  You will put both Warlord Traits on him, he gets lots of exploding 6’s, and then tries to live thru the game rumbling around like a daemonic weirdo.  Will the Lord of Skulls live thru all the pain coming?   It does have a ton of wounds, can’t have rerolls to wound, and seems pretty tough.

The Two venom crawlers give me a +1 to cast for the Master of Possession and give some bodies that make it hard to shoot them as they are nearby.  It allows your troop choices to hang back and score versus just trying to keep your HQ’s alive.  The little Warpsmith is another little monster that can come up and punch someone with a chance to do 4 mortal wounds on top of his other attacks. Plus he can randomly heal the Lord of Skulls as needed.  I made him Khorne because it looks cool.  He also has a Thunder Hammer because the one I have to paint has a Thunder Hammer.
