Social media reactions to advanced screenings of Nope promise an unforgettable cinematic experience that sounds different than the trailer.

Jordan Peele’s newest horror classic is out in theaters this weekend and first impressions from reviewers are all over Twitter.

Unforgettable and Unpredictable

Three things appear to be consistent through the reviews. First, Jordan Peele has once again outdone himself. Second, the film is full of some pretty valuable commentary. And lastly, this movie isn’t going to be what you expect – and that’s gonna make some viewers angry.

First takes also speak to a movie that is really well balanced and atmospheric (which makes sense for Peele).

Several people mention Kiki Palmer’s performance in particular.

A couple of reviews have casually mentioned Jaws in their first takes, which is interesting since it takes place in such a rustic setting.

And of course, there were plenty of positive comments about the cinematography. Many of the reviewers are using their platform to encourage viewers to see the film on the IMAX screen.

Nope Cast & Crew

Oscar-winner Jordan Peele is the screenwriter and director. Nope reunites him with Daniel Kaluuya; plus Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, and Michael Wincott.

Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with “Get Out” and then “Us.” Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope. Residents in a lonely gulch of inland California bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.

Nope arrives in theaters on July 22nd.
