Warcry: Horns of Hashut Under The Spotlight

3 Minute Read
Jul 20 2022

Games Workshop is showing off the followers of Hashut with a new look at their lore and rules in Warcry!

The Heart of Ghur box is coming soon to launch the next chapter in Warcry and with it we’re getting a closer look at the two warbands included inside. We already got a preview of the Rotmire Creed and today we’re looking at the new Horns of Hashut. Will these followers of Hashut be the link that brings back an old chaos god? Will there be a connection to the long lost Chaos Dwarves from the Old World Era? Let’s find out!

“The Horns of Hashut worship take their name from the evil duardin deity they worship, and also act as his heralds of ruination. Marching ahead of his legendary duardin legions, they conquer regions, laying waste to all lifeforms, leaving behind only wastelands for sprawling daemon-forges and dark armouries. The humans that make up the Horns of Hashut have spent their lives living among the Chaos-worshipping duardin, and have long since abandoned such concepts as compassion and mercy.”

Horns of Hashut – Here Comes The Lore Bombs

Right off the bat we get a nod to the fact that YES these humans are indeed worshiping the same chaos god as the “Chaos-worshipping duardin.” This is HUGE for lore fans and theorists out there. Does this mean we could see Chaos Duardin in the future? This is another nod to them. We’ve already seen some of their handiwork from the Orruk Kruleboyz.

Furthermore, it’s right in the text:

“[The Horns of Hashut] also act as [Hashut’s] heralds of ruination. Marching ahead of his legendary duardin legions…”

Seeing as how this is the first wave of the forces of Hashut this warband could quite literally be the vanguard for a much larger force in the future. How exciting is that!? And it sounds like when Hashut decides to make a move, he’s not exactly subtle about it.

“Hashut, also known as the Father of Darkness, isn’t known for his subtlety in war – sneaking around and performing clandestine acts really isn’t for him. His followers seek to emulate his ideal of unleashing overwhelming violence, backed up with dark arcane firepower. Now, Hashut has turned his eyes upon Thondia for his next campaign of brutal conquest and desolation.”

So these are definitely the human forces of Hashut but from the sound of things there will be even more of them on the way. The next question I have is if these forces are going to play nice with the other chaos forces or not? And will they be able to borrow some Hobgrots in their army. The new Horns of Hashut warband certainly opens up a lot of interesting options for the future and could be the introduction for a new/revamp chaos duardin army.

Horns of Hashut And Thonida

So why are the Horns of Hashut heading into Thonida? Well, aside from the fact that Hashut has shown some interest, they are also after the same artifact as the Rotmire Creed. They want the Eye of Chotec. But unlike the Rotmire Creed they don’t want to turn Thondia into a plague-filled swamp. They want to make Thonida a volcanic, ashen desert.

The Ruinator Alpha is leading the warband in hopes of finding the Eye of Chotec. Clocking in at 165 points to start, he’s no slouch either.

And if you’re wondering what he’s holding in his hand, well, that probably not just a rock.

We’ll have to wait for more Warcry news to find out how this one works out. The Heart of Ghur is coming soon!
