“It is rumoured that the Rotmire Creed are the descendents of an order of alchemists, a nefarious group who were kicked out of the city of Excelsis for performing experiments upon unwilling subjects. Back then, they were trying to free humankind from sickness, but after being driven into the arms of Lord Leech, they now seek to create the perfect plague. If they manage to find the remains of the Eye of Chotec, there’s a chance they’ll be able to brew it up.”

The Rotmire Creed

Each warband is led by Witherlord. Both an alchemist and a zealous fighter the Witherlord is searching for the Eye of Chotec and it’s powerful geomantic engines. Their hope is that they can locate the device and use it to transform the Gnarlwood into a putrid swamp like their home Rotmire to the north.

You can see his stats are pretty solid from the card above. He’s also got some tricky weapons that have additional rules which GW is hinting at for later. That is indeed a giant syringe he’s holding and it’s not something you want to get stuck with.

The Rotmire also worship a being known as “Lord Leech” who endows them with the blessing of diseases. While it’s not specifically said that this is some form of Nurgle…it kind of checks all the right boxes. Could this Lord Leech be another worshiper or champion of Nurgle who’s attempting to foment a cult? Seems like the job is pretty much done. Now if they can just pull off their crazy scheme…
