Games Workshop has been had at work with the Leagues of Votann. Here’s a few old Squat Vehicles we hope make a comeback.

So far Games Workshop has really been playing up the Leagues of Votann as technologically advanced versions of the old Squats. In fact, they are distancing this new army with a new name and rebranding of sorts. We’re okay with all of this! At the same time they are also dropping some big nods to the previous incarnation known as the Squats.

You can tell the influences in Leagues of Votann Exo-Armour and the vehicles they have already revealed. We’re really liking the revamped look so far. Abe already tackled some of the other units that should make a come back as well. Today, we’re going to focus on 5 specific vehicles we hope get a redo and update for the Leagues of Votann.

Iron Eagle Gyrocopter

Flyers might not be the hottest units in the meta right now but they are still an important unit for an army. And while Airships were a part of their armory previously, there’s already an army that has that covered in Age of Sigmar. That’s why we’re talking about the Iron Eagle Gyrocopter specifically. In the lore these units were used as bombers and spotters. They used datalinks to help artillery target specific units or important targets.

Personally, I think this could be a unique and fun role for a flyer to play in the Leagues of Votann armory. It would have some guns but it’s real schtick is making it easier for other targets to hit. Similar to marker lights from the T’au — only much simpler to implement. It could also work very well in conjuction with our next entry…

Thudd Gun

I think the Thudd Gun could make a comeback as an artillery piece/vehicle for the Leagues of Votann. They could mount it on something akin to the new ATV and have a mobile weapons platform capable of delivering a thunderous payload on a target. Alternatively, maybe they do leave it as a less mobile artillery piece — but there should be something that can tow the Thudd Gun around.

Cyber-Ambull

We saw Necromunda get their version of the robotic Ambull in the Ambot. But did you know that the Squats used to cybernetically enhance Ambulls to become even more powerful tunnellers than before? “But that’s not a vehicle!” Well, they were actually ridden by a Squat Engineers and had “control knobs” attached to them. So, yes, they were vehicles in a manner of speaking.

With the Leagues of Votann’s views on Robots and I could totally see them enhancing some Ambulls to ride to battle. They could be dreadnought equivalents in their army.

Land Trains

Look, I know Abe mentioned Land Trains but we can’t make a list of Squat vehicles we hope get updated and NOT include it. The Land Train is just that iconic and we really hope that GW finds a way to update it and bring it back to the game. Heck, if they can add a long-haul truck and trailer to Necromunda a Land Train can be done.

Colossus

I’m not entirely sure if this would be a Super-heavy or not in modern 40k. I mean, yes, it would be if it was built to scale vs the Epic version. But maybe a “mini-colossus” is what I’m thinking of. The Leagues of Votann will need a tank or tank-equivalent in their army. So far the ATV has been the biggest and heaviest armor we’ve seen from there. However, we know that GW has more in their garage for the Leagues. I think we might see a divergent or reimagining of the Colossus (or any of the other BIG Epic vehicles) from the Squats. But who knows — maybe GW will just give them this super-heavy right out of the gate!

Tanks, Tunnelers, Bikes, and Trike — What vehicles do you hope GW brings back from the Squats for the Leagues of Votann?
