Warhammer 40K: Chaos Primarch Check-In – Who Else Could Become A Daemon Primarch
Angron’s on the way. Who else could get pulled into Warhammer 40k with a new Daemon Primarch Model?
So far in Warhammer 40,000 we’ve gotten Mortarion and Magnus as Daemon Primarchs. Agron’s new model has been announced. And we’re wondering if the Loyalist will get another Primarch before Fulgrim shows up.
Daemon Primarch Angron
We did a quick check-in to see which Loyalist Primarch is likely to arrive to help Guilliman out. But that also got us thinking about the status of the other Chaos Primarchs out there. We’ve got the “Big 4” accounted for with the assumption that Fulgrim is incoming (eventually). But who else could become a Daemon Prince Primarch of the Chaos Gods?
The Other Primarchs – Most Likely To Return
Perturabo – Daemon Prince of Chaos Undivided
Elevated to the status of a Daemon Prince of Chaos Undivided after the events of the Iron Cage, Perturabo is still around. He’s been somewhat quite as the last big event he took place in was off-screen – it was a battle between his forces and Mortarion in the War of Rust and Ruin.
The fact of the matter is that Perturabo is already a Daemon Prince Primarch of Chaos Undivided. The Iron Warriors used to be one of the more popular Chaos Armies around the Warhammer 40k 3.5 era. It would be cool to see him come back to lead his Legion once more.
Lorgar – Daemon Prince (of Chaos Undivided?)
The Word Bearer’s Primarch was eventually lifted to the status of Daemonhood. It’s fitting considering his Legion is pretty much directly responsible for the Horus Heresy. Their fanatical beliefs led to reprimand by the Emperor and the Chaos Gods answering their call for something to worship. It’s unclear if he pledged his loyalty to any one particular Chaos God, but based on Lorgar and Word Bearer’s history, it’s probably a safe bet that he’s Undivided.
That said, he’s been active in the background in the current storyline – but he’s been pretty low-key.
“After ten thousand years of seclusion into the Warp, Lorgar is finally rumored to have returned at the close of the 41st Millennium and formation of the Great Rift. It is said that he has been seen walking mortal realms in terrible splendor, preaching the word of Chaos at the head of a massive Word Bearers force.”
If the Word Bearers ever do get a new army and codex I would fully expect to see A Lorgar at the forefront leading them with all his “terrible splendor” preaching the praise of chaos.
The Other Primarchs – Signs Point To “No”
Konrad Curze – KIA
He was killed in action. Or was he? That’s kind of the question. After going off the deep end, Konrad Curze waited for his demise at the hand of an Imperial Assassin.
“The vid-log then shows M’Shen leaping forward, although the kill was never confirmed, as the video feed cuts out right before they fight. It is believed that Night Haunter allowed himself to be killed: he saw himself as a murderous and corrupt villain, the very thing he sought to destroy. “
There’s the possibility that he faked his own death and survived the assassination attempt. However, there’s a good chance that he did, in fact, allow himself to be killed. That said, he was a Primarch and Chaos is all Timey-Wimey Wibbly-Wobbly. Maybe a Daemon possessed his body as his spirit left. Maybe he planned for all that to happen. He was prescient afterall. Curze has also been called the evil Batman of 40k so maybe he had some back-up plan for his “death” this time. Or not. And he’s just dead.
Alpharius / Omegon
Look, Alpharius/Omegon has been “killed” in the lore. But it’s possible that was a fake because it’s the Alpha Legion and “I Am Alpharius” is kind of their thing. This guy has Inception Levels of deception as part of his Schtick. There’s even a question of if the Alpha Legion is a super secret spy/plant against chaos. Point is don’t expect to see this Primarch as a Daemon Prince anytime soon.
Horus – KIA
Horus is dead. Not just dead-dead but “his soul has been obliterated and his body destroyed” dead. There was that clone made by the Emperor’s Children but that was also destroyed. Turns out Abaddon didn’t appreciate that uh…gesture too much. In fact, Abaddon is probably the closest we’ll get to seeing Horus in 40k. So don’t expect to see his return — ever.
