WotC promises “*big* announcements” for D&D at the upcoming Wizards Presents event. Including something multiple years in the works.

Now that summer is fast coming to a, well, not an end, because a look at the weather report reveals another ten days of 100+ degree weather. But with the turning of August slowly towards September, we can hope for the fall. It’s a distant hope. Sure. We know that cooler temperatures will hide until October at the least. But knowing there’s something down the road gives us something to look forward to.

Which is exactly the deal with the upcoming Wizards Presents. Wizards Presents promises exciting news and announcements for Magic: the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons.

Big Announcements await at Wizards Presents

There are two big sections here. Now it’s telling that most of the information about the stream relates to Magic: the Gathering. After all, the August 18th stream will have some heavy previews for the upcoming Dominaria United which helped launch Magic (and Wizards) in the first place.

It’s a sort of full circle return. And we recently learned that M:tG counts for something like 70-80% of WotC’s total sales. This should tell you that however big D&D is, Magic outstrips it by miles.

This is why you can expect the debut video and previews at WotC’s live stream on August 18th.

It’s our biggest day of announcements yet, showing off upcoming releases for Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons with exclusive looks into what’s to come for the next year from us here at Wizards of the Coast.

For Magic, that’s a look at the rest of 2022 and 2023 at the next batch of releases. However, D&D gets its share of the spotlight too:

Including an announcement of a product they’ve been “teasing for years.”

Already many fans are speculating about the tease. The prevailing opinion seems to be something Planescape or Planescape adjacent. There are already plenty of references to the planes and Sigil throughout various books. And the recent Wonders of the Multiverse Unearthed Arcana has many anticipating more multiversal shenanigans.

If the hype fits, wear it, I suppose. Either way, we’ll know soon enough, so check back on August 18th!

Happy adventuring
