Planescape looms large over 2023, but here’s D&D’s lineup for the coming year. Get ready to head to Sigil.

In case the news of a whole new edition/iteration/evolution/generation of D&D wasn’t enough. WotC also revealed the entire 2023 lineup. And perhaps most exciting of all, a return to Planescape at the end of 2023. Check it out.

Planescape Headlines D&D’s 2023 Lineup

First up, Keys to the Golden Vault, an adventure anthology that features heists and hijinks. Get ready to do crimes in D&D times. What treasures will you unlock?

We finally know where all those giant-themed classes and backgrounds and feats are going to go. In Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants, everything giant-related will be gathered together in one book. From the sound of it, this will be a lot like one of the Mordenkainen Presents books.

Then in Summer (that is, August 2023), the Phandelver Campaign will take the classic Lost Mines of Phandelver and expand it into a much larger campaign. LMoP has been introducing players to D&D 5th Edition for almost a decade now, and this new book will give it some much-needed room to grow.

And then in Fall, The Book of Many Things gives players a host of new options. This is a Tasha’s/Xanathar’s style player expansion book. You can expect new subclasses, new feats, and probably new spells. All themed around the campaign-ending Deck of Many Things. Expect a lot of fate and cards. Gambit fans, this is your chance.

Finally, Planescape is back. This time in “campaign collection” form. They say it will include everything you need to explore Sigil and the multiverse beyond. Perhaps this is where Spelljammer’s missing wildspace system rules will be. But either way, this is something that many fans have been looking forward to for a long, long time. Planescape is one of D&D’s most beloved settings, at least by a certain sect of D&D weirdos (I know, I’m one), so it’ll be exciting to see how it shapes up.

All this, next year! Happy Adventuring
