The explosive finale of Spelljammer Academy features harrowing ship-to-ship combat in the void of Wildspace. Adventure awaits in Behold H’Catha.

The end is at hand for Spelljammer Academy with the finale of the four-part adventure: Beyond H’Catha. And Spelljammer Academy’s finale really brings it in with all the bells and whistles.

Ship-to-ship combat, boarding actions, grenades. There’s even a fight with star lancers, the new winged voidsharks. It has everything you could want in a Spelljammer adventure, and it has the added bonus of taking your character through level 5 by the end of it.

Spelljammer Academy Finale – Beyond H’Catha

If you haven’t been following Spelljammer Academy, then this is the perfect time to jump in. The adventure itself is a four-part short adventure that takes characters to level 5, and makes them ready for Light of Xaryxis the upcoming adventure found in Spelljammer: Adventures in Space.

It’s honestly the best tutorial for Wildspace you can get your hands on right now. By the end of it, the party of heroes will be full-fledged spelljammers, ready to sail the Astral Sea.

Beyond H’Catha, Spelljammer Academy‘s finale picks up where the last installation left off. The players are aboard a Beholder Tyrant-ship out in space, picking up an asteroid from a “nearby” world.

H’Catha is a part of the same star system as Toril, the planet upon which Faerun resides. And players will explore the disk-shaped water world in search of a meteorite. Once they find it, the return to Faerun brings some long-awaited ship-to-ship combat.

This marks the first appearance of some of the new Spelljammer ship plans, including a damselfly ship, crewed by Githyanki mercenaries, and even a hammerhead ship. WotC really is pulling all of the stops out for the Spelljammer Academy finale.

But it delivers on the promise of Spelljammer’s premise. The campaign setting illustrates what a space adventure might look like. And it’s full of twists and turns that show just how much room you have to riff on the concepts.

By the end of this adventure, the players are primed for Light of Xaryxis which comes out with Spelljammer on August 16th.
