It’s been a harrowing weekend for Blizzard with Diablo IV leaks from a “friends and family” beta cropping up everywhere.

Stay a while and listen to how Diablo IV beta footage has been leaking around the internet over the last weekend. From Reddit to PostImg, it seems the culprits all stem from an early build of the game serving as a “private test build” for the upcoming click-to-win action-rpg.

You might recall the hype start to build back in June with the Developer Gameplay Showcase.

Now, players in an early playtest build (and likely under an NDA as Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier speculates) have leaked stills and footage of the game over the weekend.

Diablo IV Leaks Abound

And much like anything on the internet it’s hard to scrub once it’s out there. Blizzard took swift action over the weekend, and the offending images/footage have been removed from many social media sites like Twitter or Facebook.

But that doesn’t mean the information isn’t still out there. At press time, you could still find leaks available on Reddit as well a handful of other sites.

The images shown give a look at the early character creator. Which seems rife with customization options. You might see a big beefy barbarian with options for markings, jewelry, and makeup, for instance. Or you might view some footage of the early game character select screen featuring the sorcerer, necromancer, rogue, druid, and barbarian classes.

You’d also see a Private Test Build watermark on nearly all of the images or footage. Which seems like it should lead Blizzard directly back to the leaker, as that implies a very specific build with a specific Blizzard tag.

Meanwhile moderators of the Diablo subreddit have made a statement about any current or future leaks. Notably that nothing should be taken as final, and that while Blizzard might ban your account from battle.net, and the subreddit doesn’t “condone leaking of pre-release information” posters will also not be punished.

Either way, Diablo IV is immanent. And while microtransactions will be present, so far developers have said they’re only cosmetic. After the financially devastating Diablo Immortal, which includes a player who couldn’t matchmake after spending $100,00k, players remain cautious.

That’s quite a treasure you have there
