In Violent Night, David Harbour will suit up as St. Nick – but you better watch out, because this Santa is here to slay.

Back in April, fans of horror holiday movies got a great reason to bust out the Christmas lights early when a panel at CinemaCon announced a bloody new film that’s sure to become a winter classic. And best of all, the film will star every nerd’s favorite grumpy dad, David Harbour of Stranger Things fame.

And man, this Christmas is gonna be a killer.

David Harbour Knows Naughty from Nice

Harbour and director Tommy Wirkola (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow) have teamed up for this new ass-kicking Christmas caper. The Focus Features film follows a family that’s been taken hostage during the holiday season. But the kidnappers get more than they bargained for as Harbour drops in to save the day. And he drops in through the chimney?

That’s right. Marvel’s Red Guardian will be playing an altogether different guardian in red – Santa Claus.

Violent Night Synopsis

At CinemaCon, we learned that this Santa is more than jolly. Check out the description of the film below:

“A team of elite mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage. But the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (Harbour) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.”

From Harbour’s description, the film will share a spiritual bond with the action-packed Christmas classic Die Hard.

The Cast of Violent Night

Harbour isn’t the only fan-favorite face in this upcoming action joint. Hollywood bae John Leguizamo will go toe-to-toe with Harbour’s St. Nick in the role of the head mercenary.

The cast also includes Beverly D’Angelo, Alex Haskell, and Alexis Louder. Edi Patterson and Cam Gigandet will also star. Sonic‘s Pat Casey and Josh Miller serve as writers for this soon-to-be cult classic.

Now we finally have a poster, and I gotta tell ya… David Harbour looks poised to save Christmas. He’s gonna save the sh*t outta Christmas.

‘Violent Night’ is set to hit theaters this December 2nd. Obviously, we’ll be sure to be extra good this year in hopes that this holiday yarn is the greatest gift of all.
