What happens when the mortals in the Mortal Realms don’t want to worship Sigmar? The new Novel Godeater’s Son explores that very question.

On the face value of the various boxed sets of Age of Sigmar you would assume that the brightly colored Golden Armored Warriors of the Stormcast Eternals are “the good guys” and whatever other faction they are fighting is “the bad guys”  in the scenario. For the most part you’d be right…

Maybe not “evil” but really more of a “force of nature” type of bad guy…

But if you dare to scratch at the surface of the setting and dig a little deeper the you’ll start to notice things. For starters, those Stormcast Eternals are slowly losing their humanity with each “rebirth” at the soul forge. And we’ve also had stories of Stormcasts destroying entire settlements due to infection before. “Cure? The only cure is hammer to the face…” For the Warriors of Sigmar known as the Stormcast Eternals, it’s starting more and more to look like mere mortals are no longer seen as life worth protecting. The mortals are weak cattle that needs to be kept in line. And that slow shift in attitude has lead to some more interesting developments in the storyline — if you’ve been paying attention.

That whole idea is coming to an interesting crossroads with an upcoming novel from Games Workshop and Black Library. Godeater’s Son explores the other side of the mortal’s dilemma in Age of Sigmar. Do you submit to the Tyranny of Sigmar’s rule or do you opt for “Freedom” in another path? But is that other path even that “free” to begin with?

“In the Mortal Realms, what might drive a ‘normal’ person to worship Chaos?” wonders Noah. “If you’ve ever asked yourself this question, I highly recommend Godeater’s Son. Unlike many poor souls in the Mortal Realms, Heldanarr, the hero of Godeater’s Son, has a choice – and he chooses to reject Sigmar, and for good reasons.”

Personally, I am curious about this one. It’s a different perspective on the Mortal Realms and we get to witness the Chaos Follower’s side of things. They aren’t all wild barbarians who just seek blood and murder. And they aren’t all power obsessed cultists who worship profane creatures for the promise of knowledge. There are those that just want to be left alone. But that’s not always in the cards.

If you thought that the Stormcast Eternals were the good guys you might want to check this one out…
