The Mega-Gargants of the Sons of Behemat are getting some new toys in their upcoming Battletome and it’s not just King Brodd!

We know there is a new King Brodd Kit coming for the Mega-Gargants and it probably has some bits to create the Beast Smasher Mega-Gargant, too. But that’s not all that will be in the Battletome for the Sons of Behemat. There’s some more tricks in their arsenal to play with and we’re getting a taste of them today.

“In preparation for their new battletome, the hulking Mega-Gargants have been hard at work practicing a range of gnarly grapples, meaty throws, and brain-busting yells to add to their repertoire of monstrous rampages. Only time will tell if there’s any truth to the whimsical rumours of gargants donning unitards of mind-boggling size and unknown origin.”

First up we have the Beast Grapple. This Monstrous Rampage allows for the attacking Mega-Gargant to effectively put the other monster in a choke-hold. In game turns this applies a “strike-last” effect to both of them for the until the end of the combat phase.

Now why would you want to do that? So it can’t swing at you, duh! You could double-up on a unit with two Mega-Gargants (or a Mega-Gargant and a smaller Gargant) and have them wail on it before it can swing back. Alternatively, if you have less units that activate and/or you’re the player with priority, you could still have the “strike-last” effect on your Mega-Gargant and it will attack before the targeted monster. Get creative with this one!

Are you a fan of Wrestling? Because it sure seems like the Mega-Gargants have been taking notes. Colossal Slam allows you to pick-up and move a single enemy monster from it’s starting position to anywhere (legal) within 1/2″ of the Mega-Gargant as body slam them around. Oh and the target monster also takes D3 Mortals. The Mega-Gargant does take a -1 to hit penalty however. This could still be worth it as you’ve got a TON of space to play with based on the base of the Mega-Gargant. Force them out of position and take advantage of the newly piledrived monster!

Now we take a closer look at King Brodd. Apparently, he’s bringing some tricks of his own — besides his massive club.

King Brodd isn’t above a bit of wrasslin’ when needed, but this colossal priest-king is set apart from his younger brothers by drawing on the Power of Behemat himself. He knows all the ancient tales of the World Titan’s might, and incites his battle-mates to gargantuan violence with destructive prayers.

Brodd’s chanting rolls grow in power as he slays enemy MONSTERS, and once he meets the answer value of 3, he can pick one of three once-per-game effects – including Pummel All to Dust.”

This adds an additional Rend to a bunch of the Sons of Behemat’s weapons. That’s going to make their attacks extra scary! There’s 2 more effects that the Power of Behemat has and we’ll just have to wait a bit longer to find out what those are.

The power of the Mega-Gargants is growing!
