Goatboy’s Warhammer 40K: Chaos Daemons Be’lakor’s Basics

Goatboy here with what I consider to be a Be’lakor & friends Chaos Daemons list to face down all comers.

We all know Be’Lakor is very powerful and using his Warp Locus abilities allows for a very powerful edition to the Daemon book.  You can teleport him around, grant him all the Nurgle Spells, and just be a real pain the butt.  Of course you can’t just win the game with this big bruiser so you need some other pieces to help out.

The Little Guys

On the actual troop front it appears to be a fight between Daemonettes and Bloodletters for the decent troop choice that might do something.  The real reason you see Bloodletters over the cheaper Daemonettes is due to the next important piece of the Daemon puzzle – Skarbrand.  This big fat monster is pretty important as you can lock armies into endless combat, have a very murderous beat stick, and you can teleport him off of Be’Lakor.  All of these pieces means this guys shows up a lot and as he is a Warp Locus for Khorne you need to look at Letters as your other option to teleport off of.

The Warp Chicken

From there the next big monster I think will see a lot is the very annoying Super Chicken – Warlord Lord of  Change.  Man it is super annoying you can’t buy extra Warlord Traits but this guy as your defacto leader can be set up to be very hard to remove.  The Warlord trait of -1 to wound, the Exalted trait of -1 to hit, and the Impossible Robe to turn damage to 0 from one failed save per phase.  This is very annoying to chew thru as he flies around, throws out some damage, and tries not to get bogged down into combat.

From there is just filling out enough troops to allow you to deep strike a lot of your army and keep enough board control as needed.  Let’s build the list and go from there.  This is most likely what I would take if I was playing Daemons right now.

Using the List

This is a pretty simple list as you have Skarbrand, Flamers, and 4 units of Bloodletters in reserve while your other parts of your army tries to survive.  Your big boys fly around and cause problems. Once turn 2 hits you throw up Be’lakor and all his buddies to pour out and get to working.  I am tempted to try and fit a Herald in – but that is for another day.  The pinks are just a pain in the butt in the backfield as you hope no one charges them.

This might have been a fun “anti” Votann list. But with the nerf we’ll see if Daemons get pushed more to the mid-tier.  Buddies had a lot of fun with them at Las Vegas Teams and I feel they could thrive in that format against lists that try to play the passive game.
