Kids on Bikes 2nd Edition is coming. Grab your bikes, grab some sharpened wooden stakes, and your favorite 80’s montage song.

Do you pine for the days when you could hop on your bike and pedal off in search of adventure? Did you never have those days and yearn to know what it would be like? Well, those days of pining and yearning are at an end.

Because hit RPG Kids on Bikes which is, as the name suggests, an excellent vehicle for telling stories where kids on bikes confront otherworldly and supernatural threats of all sorts, is getting a second edition. A recently announced Kickstarter saw Kids on Bikes 2E funded in less than an hour.

Just like Stranger Things, Kids on Bikes wears its 80s influence on its sleeves. E.T., Goonies, Monster Squad, and more are at the heart of KoB adventures. And it stands out. With rules-light gameplay that facilitates collaborative world-building and storytelling, you’ll find yourself adventuring more and looking up rules less.

But rules-light doesn’t mean structureless. Kids on Bikes makes it easy to tell these adventures. It uses collaborative mechanics to help every player feel invested. And from personal experience, it’s probably the easiest RPG to pick up and play and still feel like you could run a lifetime of campaigns. This is hands down one of my favorite systems.

If you’re looking for something new to try or want to dive into RPGs, Kids on Bikes offers the experience most people want out of an RPG with the least amount of effort. It’s perfect for introducing new people, is what I’m saying. But there’s so much to riff on once you get the hang of it.

So what’s different about this new edition? Per the creators, there are refined rules for running Powered Characters (think ET or Eleven), new “player-scalable stakes” for dealing with violence, and expanded Gamemaster tools.

But perhaps the biggest and most important change is the addition of new collaborative storytelling rules, including fun, bike-ride-themed tools.

All of these will be fully compatible with previous Kids on Bike books, like the Strange Adventures series.

And as part of the Kickstarter, you can get some exclusive swag. There are retro character journals, 90s-style backpacks, even arcade tokens, and custom dice.

The Kickstarter Exclusives are where it’s at for Kids on Bikes 2nd Edition. Because the game has already been funded. All that’s left is to decide what goodies you personally want to pick up.

And if you’ve never seen Kids on Bikes in action, you can find it (or its counterpart, Kids on Brooms) on shows like Dimension 20 and Kollok:
