Games Workshop is back with a new update on the status of the Warhammer: The Old World project. And some fancy new art!

It’s been a while since the last update from Warhammer: The Old World. I think that period of time has been put to good use as GW has been working on all manner of goodies for The Old World. We’ve got new art to check out as well as some updates so let’s dive in.

via Warhammer Community

“Our miniatures designers, painters, writers, illustrators, and graphic designers have all been engaged in a period of industrious activity getting new miniatures designed and the main rulebook written, playtested, lavishly illustrated, and laid out. This truly is a gargantuan project with lots to show off, but for now we want to give a glimpse of some of the amazing artwork the Warhammer: The Old World  team’s illustrators have been producing… “

New Art Ahead!

Bretonnians

“Knight of the Kingdom of Bretonnia wears the black and red of Duke Gastille.”

It’s also worth noting that this Knight has a gold rim around his shield device on the barding. That identifies him as a Knight of the Realm instead of a more junior Knight Errant. The white axe icon is also of Brionne.

Tomb Kings

“Tomb Kings of Khemri chariot sports the classic red and teal of Settra the Imperishable.”

Map Update

We also get another look at the map of the Old World and it appears to be progressing quite nicely. What’s new in the map? Good question!

“…we’ve recently added a number of emblems indicating locations important to the Dwarfs and the greenskins – in particular up in the mountain ranges that cross the Old World, and in the northern reaches of the Badlands. Each icon is just the tip of the iceberg, with a huge amount of work going into developing the character and history behind each and every group and faction.”

It’s a very impressive map for sure. I really hope that GW uploads some super hi-rez images of this map for fans to peruse eventually. It’s crazy to think this is still “a work in progress” as well! I’m suspecting we’ll see more info about The Old World in the not too distant future as GW also mentioned that next year is the 40th anniversary of Warhammer!

Well the art’s looking amazing. Now let’s see some models…
