N7 Day is on Friday and Shepard voice actor Jennifer Hale has us wondering if we should expect a big announcement this year.

Jennifer Hale, the actress behind Commander Shepard’s female voice, had a vague tweet that left Mass Effect fans wondering if we should be expecting a big announcement on N7 Day.

About N7 Day

In a similar vein to how May the fourth every year has been turned into Star Wars day by fans, November 7th is a day for fans to celebrate the Mass Effect series.

Within the canon of Mass Effect, “N7” is a vocational code in the Systems Alliance military. “N” designates special forces while “7” represents the highest possible level of proficiency. Including Commander Shepard, there are only seven known N7s in Mass Effect‘s universe. Which is to say that they are very good at what they do.

But fans took N7 and decided that it should stand for “November 7th” in our universe, and use that as the date to show the series a little extra love and enthusiasm. This year N7 day is coming up on Monday.

A Potential Announcement

Earlier this week Jennifer Hale, one of the voices of Commander Shepard, was asked if anything special was planned for N7 day this year. And her simple two-word reply has left fans reeling. “Stay tuned…”

This obviously means that there’s some sort of incoming news. If not a simple “No” or deflecting with a “I’ll be playing by…” would have ended the exchange with no suspicions. But to me “stay tuned” means “yes but you’ll have to wait to see what.”

So now we all want to know, what could it be?!

As far as we know the next Mass Effect game is still years away. So our hope for a game announcement or trailer is pretty much nonexistent. For the most part, fans aren’t speculating too much about what this drummed-up hype could be referencing. Most are just excited about whatever it could be. We’ll definitely have our ears open on Monday during the N7 Day festivities, and if and when any exciting announcements come out, we’ll be sure to let you know here.

Previous N7 Days festivities have included Steam stickers, sales, new merch, and contests.

About Mass Effect

Mass Effect is a science fiction video game with a military spin. In a distant future, humans and aliens have colonized the known universe using technology left behind by an advanced civilization that isn’t there anymore. There are four main games in the franchise, starting with Mass Effect in 2007 and ending with Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2017. And another, untiled game is on its way, but likely not for a few more years.

The games have almost all been well received by fans and critics alike, earning the series a huge fanbase of dedicated fans.

How will you be celebrating N7 Day this year? What do you think Jennifer Hale’s pseudo-announcement could be referencing? Which Mass Effect game is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

Happy Adventuring!
