In less than an hour, Magic: the Gathering’s controversial new 30th anniversary set sold out, while the announcement filled with Greed.

In about as much time as it takes to order a pizza, have it delivered to your house, and eat it, Magic: the Gathering sold out the 30th Anniversary Edition product. This was the set with the $999 price tag that seems to have cost the company more than just the good will of its community. It also got Bank of America to downgrade their stock rating. And when you’re dealing with BofA, you know it’s serious.

You might have missed the sale. Perhaps you were catching up on an episode of Andor. Or watching the first half of Spirited on AppleTV because you just want to fill the void in your life with a little holiday cheer.

As WotC issued an official statement on Twitter, the community made their feelings known, commenting pictures of the Greed card extensively.

With almost 1.3k comments at press time, the vast majority were fans leaving pictures of the Greed card in its many incarnations. The most common one seemed to be the Commander version.

Though more than a few Phil Foglio versions were in there.

In fact, Magic’s ability to unite the community around a single point of view seemed to reach outside the card game itself. Many commenters left pictures of Yu-Gi-Oh’s Pot of Greed card.

This card, when played, allows the player to draw two cards from their deck.

Regardless of the community anger, the 30th anniversary set is no longer available. If you attempted to purchase the set and feel like you ran into an issue with your purchase, don’t hesitate to contact WotC’s customer service, per their tweet.

The next thirty years of Magic begin today, what do you think the future holds for the venerable game?
